Introduction

Final Plays presentations

The final play presentations were last Friday. In our group, we had huge problems with the time for rehearses. Two of our classmates work the weekends and two during the week (we were five). The day of the play presentation we were very nervous because for us it was the first time we had participated in a play.
When we were helping David with the make up and the wig, we could not stop laughing. Pablo looked pretty nice wearing dress and curls. The positive aspects are we had to learn how to work under pressure; for example, time and costumes. I know the audience enjoyed the play, especially David who forgot “some” lines; I was hidden under the desk and I had to say what he had to do. We worked as a whole, everybody helped the others.
The aspect to improve, in my opinion, is that the professor should assign the play at least one month before the presentation in order to have more time to adapt the play. I think all the groups were very creative. The play presentation is an excellent activity; even though we had some problems, it was a great experience, we knew more about our classmates.
To present an entire play is more difficult than present a scene because we had to show the audience when a scene ends and stars a new one, and adapt the scenery.
I like the play “The importance of being Earnest”, it was very nice and I enjoyed the part when Hugo played the guitar. The clothes were appropriated.
The play “The house of Bernarda Alba” was so funny, especially the scene when Carolina was calling Lysistrata. They were very creative because the play has many characters. The wigs were nice and Ponica’s cloth was adorable. I love the way the showed the play as a comedy instead of a drama.
I love this course.

The experience of performing a complete play was really difficult and challenging. It needed of the collaboration of all the classmates in every subgroup. Our presentation, Naomi in the Living Room, was very funny and crazy. When we were practicing the play we got the funniest moments during the semester because the issue of David and Pablo performing as women made us constantly to laugh. It helped us to reinforce the team work because it required of a lot of organization of every detail, since the clothing to the setting. It also helped us to the issue of improvising because we knew that if we forget something during the presentation, we have to fix it easily and quickly. Our presentation was funny because of the appearance of David and Pablo. Furthermore, I really enjoyed the presentation of The Importance of Being Earnest; the group showed organization and dedication. In addition, they learned by hard all the lines and never forget anything; their performances were excellent. Their clothing and setting was adequate for the play. It was really good!

The suggestion that I have for this type of activity, is to practice more the play because it was hard for our group that David being Naomi forgot some of the lines that he was supposed to say, and it is easy to understand him because besides it was too much, we did not have much time to practice because of different situations with schedules. Maybe the groups should decide what play to perform since the beginning of the course, so that they can manage the time in a better way.
